I think some of the confusion that makes us wonder, What is the difference between a Condo and a Villa is that many times, the people and businesses who advertise them don’t know the difference either. Not only is this a problem but a Villa in countries other than the United States are completely different. With all of this confusion, just understand that often times, when you see a rental shown as a Villa or a Condo, they could mean the same thing.
Definition of a Condo
The Dictionary.com definition of a Condominium is “an apartment house, office building, or other multiple-unit complex, the units of which are individually owned, each owner receiving a record-able deed to the individual unit purchased, including the right to sell, mortgage, etc., that unit and sharing in joint ownership of any common grounds, passageways, etc.”
Definition of a Villa
The Dictionary.com definition of a Villa which is “a large and usually luxurious country residence”.
When you compare the two words, they seem to be something totally different entirely. I guess, this is why it is all so confusing, at least for us in the United States. Since we cannot really take the definitions and apply them to the dwellings in Pigeon Forge, I think it is probably best to realize that they are used interchangeably.
Condo vs. Villa in the United States
In my opinion, both a Condo and Villa are privately owned residences, which are deeded to an organization or individual and then rented out for others to enjoy a nice comfortable space on vacation. I tend to look at a Condo as an Apartment style living space while a Villa tends to be more like a Townhouse. Each of these locations normally have their own amenities, with a pool and sometimes playgrounds and workout rooms. Condos and Villas also have a full Kitchen and normally have their own Laundry facilities as well. At times, Villas might be considered a little more of a luxury than a condominium but in many cases, this is just because of the stigma that we have with the actual term “Condo”. Many of the Condominiums we have listed are as nice as their Villa counterparts.
So, what do you think?
