The Wilderness at the Smokies Sevierville TN is very well known due to it having the largest Indoor Water Park in Tennessee. Not only does this place offer accommodations for guests but its concept is to provide some big time family adventure no matter what the weather conditions may bring. In fact it is known as a Family Adventure Center and is one of the few places that offers their onsite water fun activities ONLY to their guests. This means that if you are not staying at the Wilderness at the Smokies location, you are not going to have access to all of the fun they have in store.

Benefits that you might not get elsewhere

I’ve heard so many stories of guests at other properties complaining of crowds because anyone willing to pay the entrance fee, can have access to all of the same fun Water Amenities that paying guests do. They pay for a room expecting to have exclusive admission to the water park features only to find out it’s too crowded from the public, to even enjoy it. Well, you surely won’t have that problem at The Wilderness near Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

Oh the Splashing good time you will have

How does three separate Water Parks and splash down fun zones sound?

Between the three of them you will have many differing experiences like an outdoor 12,000 square foot wave pool, a 39 foot free fall drop (vertical), Catfish Corral Pool, Zero Depth Entry for the little ones, Tube Slides and a 60 foot drop with 360 degree loops on Runaway Canyon just to name a few.

Tips before booking the Wilderness Smokies Hotel Waterpark Resort: When booking from an owner direct be sure to confirm that you will have access to the water parks. Level 3 Rooms do not require you to have to ride the elevator. Some of the rooms on the 3rd floor of the main building overlook the lazy river. There are some patio rooms that over look the outdoor water park. The main complex (away from Convention Center) offers more pool amenities. The Stone Hill Lodge is quieter and houses the smaller water park. The River Lodge has the indoor water park and main outdoor water park as well as other popular attractions (ask for a lower room to have a short walk to the indoor water amenities). If you are planning on using the Waterdome, you will want to request a room near it otherwise it will be a long walk. Some rooms will face the parking lot. The shuttles are handy when you do not want to walk so far to get where you want to be. The Stone Hill Lodge has a trolley running every 5 minutes. Walls are thin, top floors are quieter. Weekends at the water park(s) can be crowded. Golf View rooms are very nice. The air-conditioning and heat in some of the rooms only work with your key so plan to get an extra key if you want to keep the air going while out of the room. Staying close to the indoor pool entrance is great for the older kids.

Be Aware of these things

Room rates include water park admission however it may cost $20 per person per day to add additional people (up to the maximum amount that can stay in a room). The Storm Chaser ride requires a minimum height of 48″. The Trail Twisters Tube requires a minimum height of 48″ (or 42″ with an adult). The Smokies SurfRider requires a minimum height of 48″. No outside food can be brought into the waterparks. Kids under 12 years old must be under adult supervision at all times. You may be encouraged to stop by the concierge desk to obtain a coupon book in an attempt to get you to attend a timeshare presentation. If you do not want to be hounded a simple “no thanks” tends to be enough for them to leave you alone.

So Many Fun Things to do

You will have to check out the 25,0000 square foot Adventure Forest. This family adventure center gives you a chance to dry off and take on the Tree Top Towers, a ropes course that is 3 stories! Families can enjoy laser tag in a huge, multi-level arena. The arcade is pretty cool, too. From climbing to a laser maze to mini golf there is something for everyone.
